Role Overview We are seeking a detail-oriented Subterranean Tunnel Inspector to evaluate structural integrity and identify safety hazards in underground networks. You will collaborate closely with structural engineers, safety officers, and maintenance crews to document anomalies and recommend proactive remediation strategies. Key Responsibilities Conduct comprehensive physical inspections of underground tunnels using specialized diagnostic equipment and visual assessment protocols. Document structural defects including cracks, water seepage, corrosion, and concrete spalling with precise measurements. Execute non-destructive testing (NDT) to evaluate subsurface material integrity and concrete strength. Collaborate with engineering teams to analyze inspection data and draft detailed technical reports. Ensure all inspection activities strictly adhere to federal, state, and local underground safety regulations. Required Qualifications Demonstrated experience in structural inspection, civil construction, or geotechnical assessment within a professional environment. Familiarity with non-destructive testing (NDT) methods and structural diagnostic tools. Ability to interpret complex engineering blueprints, schematics, and structural drawings. Strong technical writing skills for producing comprehensive incident and maintenance reports. Physical capability to work in confined underground spaces, elevated platforms, and variable lighting environments. Preferred Qualifications Certification in structural welding inspection or American Concrete Institute (ACI) certification. Experience utilizing laser scanning and ground-penetrating radar (GPR) for subsurface analysis. Familiarity with OSHA confined space entry protocols and hazard identification. Success Metrics Complete 100% of scheduled subterranean inspections on time while maintaining zero safety compliance violations. Deliver comprehensive, error-free technical inspection reports within 48 hours of field assessment completion.
